What To Expect

To this day, the area around Steinberggasse is considered an attractive residential and business district with a charming mix of small shops, boutiques, restaurants and bars. It is the scene of the legendary music festival weeks, where well-known greats such as Die Toten Hosen or Foo Fighters performed. Flea and vegetable markets also take place here. In summer the locals enjoy the sunlight and cool off with a beer in one of the fountains.

Als Winterthurer wollte ich meinen Kollegen aus der Innerschweiz meine Stadt zeigen und habe eine professionelle Führung gebucht. Die Führung war sehr spannend, hat doch die Führerin die Stadt und ihre Geschichte an Hand von Annektoten lebendig werden lassen und gleichzeitig die Altstadt auch visuell näher gebracht. Soviel zur Führung.
Die meisten Teilnehmer haben Winterthur das erste Mal besucht und waren völlig überrascht, wie spannend die Geschichte und wie lebendig die Gegenwart der Stadt ist.

die Stadtführerin Susan Meili hat mit viel Empathie die damalige Situation der oberen Gesellschaft und deren Zwänge dargestellt. Man konnte sich gut vorstellen, wie einige Männer und Frauen sich gegen die Engstirnigkeit der Bohème gestellt haben um sich ihrer Passion - der Kunst- zu widmen.

Unser Führer hat uns auf unterhaltsame spannende Art die Geschichte von Winterthur näher gebracht. Zum Abschluss bestiegen wir noch den Kirchturm der Stadtkirche von wo aus wir einen super Ausblick über die Stadt hatten.
