Reviews

Service was Excellent & Destination was Amazing

Hopefully this review is in a relevant location as I cannot find something that matches exactly. I had originally pre-booked the excursion with this company (Gray Line/Hans Meier) for Engleberg. However, on the bus I discovered that the Engleberg tour ran in conjunction with an excursion aimed more directly at Mt Titlis. Although I had wanted to spend a little time in the village, my main purpose for the day was to get up on an Alp. After talking to our tour guide about this, I was able to ‘upgrade’ to the Mt Titlis tour. I am glad I did as this proved to be exactly what I had envisioned when I booked the trip. Our guide – Barbara – was excellent. Spoke English perfectly and also seemed fluent in a half-dozen other languages. She was attentive, kept the group together and provided excellent commentary & direction. Our driver – Emil – was also very personable and a very good driver. (I would have had a hard time driving a car on those mountain roads let alone a bus!) The tour itself left Zurich from the bus depot near the Hauptbahnhof. The bus was comfortable & clean. After a quick stop in Luzern to see the lion memorial (to Swiss soldiers that helped Charles escape the rage of the French Revolution), we went on to Titlus. The drive up into the valley was very scenic. You take two cable cars to reach the 5-story summit facility. Barbara guided us through an ice cave and then turned us loose for a few hours to enjoy things at the top – Ice Flyer, Suspension Bridge, the views (well it was like a blizzard & cloudy but still really amazing), etc. If desired, you could go down to a lower station & snow tube. After about 3 hours on Titlis, we boarded the bus to return to the center of Luzern for maybe 90 minutes (I gather that the length of time in Luzern depends on the timeliness of the tour group returning from Titlis to the bus & travel conditions). That was more than enough time for me to walk up the far side of the river, cross a couple of the bridges and then stroll back towards the lake through the old town. Departed Zurich at 10:00. Returned at 18:00. A perfect excursion with excellent service!
Lovely Quiet place

I upgrade this tour to so I could experience Mt Titlis, Emil our guide was incredible, friendly, funny and full of information, I hope if you sign up for this tour your guide is Emil. Once of the best tour guides out there,

As for the trip, It was one of the best i have done, So happy I upgraded, even with the rain I enjoyed it so much, The 3 gondolas rides, the view and the sledding was so much fun, Make sure you walk through the Ice cave and grab a bite to eat in the restaurant. Also the 1 hour stop over in Lucerne is a beautiful spot for lunch and walking around, the painted buildings are breathtaking

Take a walk over the ice flyer and see the amazing views and grab some great photos, 100 recommend this tour.

It was wonderful, so unreal and peaceful.
The tour guides were very nice.
I only wish we could spend 30 min more in Lucerne and may be stop in Astrid Chapel, the view was incredible.
The hiking and promenade in Engelberg was amazing.
Thank you.
In general a nice tour, but do not go on a rainy day.

It was a nice enough tour, but not ideal for a rainy day. Given that it was a Saturday, most things were closed, and there was really nowhere to be inside during the rain. Our tour was combined with the Mt. Titlis tour, and the tour guide went with those going to Mt. Titlis, so those of us doing the Engelberg tour were left unescorted, which was fine. He did a nice job recommending seeing the monastery. They give you 3.5 hours in Engelberg but an hour would have been sufficient on a rainy day. Overall a nice tour, just not a good place to be in the rain.
