Overview

The most popular tour through Zurich´s historic old town offers fascinating insights into the city´s colorful history.

What do Einstein, James Joyce and Wagner have in common? All three were residents of Zurich. But it´s not only great minds who are captivated by this lakeside city with its well-preserved old town – people from all over the world have always flocked to the thriving metropolis.

On a two-hour walk through the old town, we go searching for clues to the city´s past in its hidden alleyways and picturesque squares. Together, we uncover the secrets of Bahnhofstrasse, find out what a "procession axis" is, and visit a church with a minute-hand that jumps a record-breaking half meter every minute.

Wonderful guide, informative walk.

Informative, engaging, knowledgeable tour guide Regula is a star! The walking tour was fun and lighthearted but so full of interesting history of Zurich, cultural and economic, from the time of the Romans until today. Regula was knowledgeable about all the topics we asked about, and had in addition read up on a one day pop up art event -Nicolas Castello's traveling Gold Cube. Clearly not an everyday event, and yet we got to experience it , thanks to Regula! Quite charming over all, recommended!
Highly recommended to all visitors

I followed this tour on 10.10.2022 with a visiting friend from Malta. As a local, I know Zurich very well but I wanted to get new ideas from a tourist guide's view and also to my fried to have the best possible insight into my wonderful hometown which we call also our 'Little Big City'.
We were both not disappointed. The tour is really worth to have first impressions to the visitors. Also myself as a local have explored things that were new to me or at least not so known in details.
Wonderful, Wonderful!!

The guide was fantastic. So friendly and knowledgeable. Sadly I cannot remember her name. Maybe Viator can figure out the guide based on my tour date (September 11, 2022)?
A must if you want to learn more about Zuirch

I highly recommend this tour if you are in Zurich. While platforms have their own suggestions / recommendations, this walk helped us understand so many new things about Zurich that were not available online. Our guide was knowledgeable and she was kind enough to answer any questions we had, even if it was the direction to the station after our walk.
Great overview of Zurich’s old town quarter

Overall very good experience. Guide Maria was very clear and detailed in her explanation. The only thing was that it was a bit soft due to the crowd in the city so you’d have to follow the guide very closely otherwise you might not be able to hear anything.
